Kent Singers

The Kent Singers, a small auditioned group of amateur singers, have been bringing high quality choral performances to the Kent community for 37 years.

The group is known for its clean, finely pitched sound.   Since the fall of 2008, the group has been performing mostly a capella under the direction of members with experience conducting.

Programs that Kent Singers develops include early music, baroque, classical and modern works, both sacred and secular.  The program for the spring of 2010, for example, included several 16th century motets and madrigals, works by Buxtehude and Elgar, and a fresh setting of the 23rd Psalm by a contemporary New England composer.   In other performances, the group has performed works by Vivaldi, Purcell, Brahms, Dvorak and Randall Thompson, to name a few.

Members of the group are a congenial, varied bunch -- professions range from teaching to finance management; from computer programming to farming and garden photography; from masonry to church pastors.

Openings are currently available in all parts, from bass to soprano.

If you love to sing, you belong in the Kent Singers!
